This four day, three
overnight, Outback Airtour follows the general route of the Qantas
First Flight from Charleville through Blackall, Longreach, Winton and
Cloncurry. The tour then extends through Boulia to Birdsville, returning
to Charleville over the Channel country of southwest Queensland.
Along
the way we visit the Woolscour at Blackall, the Stockman’s Hall of Fame
and the Qantas Museum at Longreach which now has QANTAS' first Boeing
747 on public display, the Waltzing Matilda Centre at Winton,
the John Flynn Place Museum at Cloncurry, the Min Min Centre at Boulia and
the Outback Working Museum at Birdsville.
Other highlights of the
tour are a Sunset River Cruise on the Thompson River at Longreach, a side
trip to view the dinosaur footprints at the Lark Quarry near Winton and
the Town and Desert tour at Birdsville.
The itinerary has been
designed to allow our guests to enjoy the atmosphere of Outback Australia
at a leisurely pace, meet some of its characters and view the immense
panorama from a comfortable aerial platform. Our pilot will act as your
guide, and will share stories of the outback with you and point out
features of interest.
