The first Riley automobile was made in Coventry England in 1898. Production however didn't commence until around 1905.
Percy Riley, who was responsible for the first Riley, patented many engineering features later incorporated by other manufacturers, and designed the famous Riley '9' engine first seen in 1926. This design received universal acclaim and is today popular with discerning motoring enthusiasts and was the basis for the design of the later
6 cylinder, 12/4, and the RM models. With many modifications, the '9' engine was in production for just over 10 years
Our 1927 Mk 1 is only the 316th produced and is possibly the earliest Riley '9' on the road.
Our Lincock is almost certainly one of only two in Australia.
Our Imp is one of one of three in Victoria and seven in Australia. Its original UK registration was BXM 820 and we have been fortunate to obtain this same number for its registration here.
