Hello Sue, It's "Oramor Sir Valentino" here... I love my new family, but the other Dog and Cat are still a bit scary. Last night my Mum Karin tucked me up in bed with her and my Dad...I wriggled out of my blanket, so I could sleep on the back of Karin's head and look at my new Dad.. During, the night I cried a bit because I miss you and my real Mum, but Karin Just talked nicely to me and I felt better, so I didn't make too much fuss, I let them get a LITTLE bit of sleep. This morning at 4:00 am, I woke up Karin because I was hungry, so she gave me some milk, and my vitamins, then I had some mince as well. I was still too shy to go to the toilet, so I kept hanging on. After breakfast we had to go to Brisbane to take my new Dad to the airport, he's going away for a long time, and I could sense that my people were sad, so I thought I really must go along too, and cheer up the children. They packed up my food for me and a sheepskin blanket which I love, and also a lovely bag, so Karin can sneak me into places I normally wouldn't be allowed to go into with my people, and if I stay REALLY quiet, no-one can see me in the bag. I was REALLY upset, because on the way to Brisbane, I had held on a bit too long, and had an accident on the back car seat. My people were really good, and didn't growl at me, Karin had some baby wipes in the car, so Jade and Taane cleaned up the mess and gave me a hug to say it's ok. We went to visit my other new brother Jesse who doesn't live with my people, he is really nice and I think he liked me a lot, I got so many pats and cuddles, I fell asleep for a long time, when I woke up, Karin put me straight on the litter box, and I cried REALLY loudly, then did a BIG poo, I felt so much better, I wanted to play then and everyone was laughing at me... After lunch, we went to visit my new grandmother and she thought I was really cute...Jade and Taane are so kind to me, they stayed with me and made sure I wasn't frightened or shy, and they play with me a lot...I really like them... When we took my Dad to the airport, I was tired from my busy day, so Karin put my sheepskin inside the lovely bag, and I hopped in. It has a lot of room, so I stretched right out and relaxed and stayed as quiet as I could. My Dad didn't want to leave me in the undercover car parking, so he talked Karin into bringing me into the airport as well, and I tried my hardest not to wriggle or meow. I was very well behaved. It was a bit sad saying goodbye to my new Dad when I have just met him, but he told me to look after the children, and to grow nice and big and healthy while he is away... The little boy Taane was very sad and cried a lot when his Dad left, so I decided to sit with him, and I purred VERY loudly, and rubbed on him a lot...I think I helped him feel a bit better, so we fell asleep together in the car. I did a wee on the way home, but this time I meowed SOOOO loudly, Karin knew what I wanted, so she stopped the car, and got a litter tray out of the boot, so I didn't have another mistake. I have to go now, as it is time for some dinner and I am very hungry... I love you and I miss you but I am grateful to you for giving me to such a nice family, I think I will be very happy here. They say that they LOVE me A LOT too. Please give my Mum, Dad and my brothers and sisters a hug from me. Yours Truly, "Oramor Sir Valentino" 8/2/08
Morning Sue, Just letting you know, that Valentino is well and happy today, running around all over the place. He ate his own bodyweight in food yesterday, and looks set to do the same today. He slept in the hollow of my arm, draped around and over my neck, with his head on my chin, and even though I still wake during the night because I am conscious of his presence, it is so relaxing and nurturing, having him cuddled up to you, I just drift peacefully back to sleep. I am missing my husband terribly, and Valentino seems to lessen the loneliness at night. Thankyou so much for your handy advice, I'm positive the other animals will also benefit from your diet and health tips. They are getting lots of cuddles, pats, treats and chatter so they don't feel left out, or replaced by the new baby. Have a lovely day Sue and I will keep you informed on his progress. Kind Regards Karin Wilson, 10/2/08
Hello Sue, I'm trying to type you an e-mail, with a "large" kitten sitting in the middle of my keyboard, and chasing the mouse pointer around the screen. I ended up getting Jade to take him up to her room with her. Valentino is doing beautifully, I'm sure he's at the very least doubled his size, quite possibly tripled it. He's completely at home in the house now, and trying desparately to teach all of us just who ("he thinks") is in charge. He insists every night on sleeping across my neck, on the top of my head, the back of my head, or his absolute favourite, right over my face!! His one true love, is Miss Coco Chanel, and the feeling is mutual, but as you will see in the following photo, he and Miss Belle, are getting closer by the day. We separate all of them at night, or the house would be torn apart by him and Coco, and Belle would spend all night telling the pair of them off (very loudly!!). No-one would get any sleep. Although Naughty Sir Valentino, has a very unique way to get my attention during the night if he thinks I should be awake instead of sleeping...He bites me on the lip, goes under the blankets, and bites me on the bottom, or pings my bra and pyjama straps with his teeth until I wake up... After several nights of nearly no sleep, I finally relented, and let the kids take over sleeping with him, just so I could get a decent nights sleep. We've started the training phase this week with a vengeance, working hard on using distraction as a tool for teaching him where he shouldn't be climbing and things he shouldn't be touching, such as the kids dinner plates when they are eating. When all else fails, the squirt bottle works a treat, and provides a barrel of laughs for us as he springs off like a kangaroo with the shock ("where did that come from??") He is an absolute delight, and we are all in love with him. He loves to watch TV, he sits right in front of the screen, and stares up at the TV. He hops up most nights to say "Hi" to Noel when he calls me on Skype on the computer at night. We will get his next Vaccination Next week, and I think he's due to be wormed then as well. So all is going perfectly, I thought you might be wondering how he was. Things have been a bit hectic in the last week, so I apologise for the lack of news. Hope this finds you well and happy, Kind regards ,Karin Wilson. :-) 26/2/08
