Sue, Well, you did warn us that life would no longer be dull ! How true you were. The boys are thriving, and are developing their own individual personalities, even at this early stage. They have accepted all food placed before them. They get a varied diet of Salmon, Tuna or Mackerel - Roast Chicken - Minced Beef and they have dry food down for whenever they want to snack. Water is always available. It is amazing how quickly they have developed their routines around meal times. They call out to us in their very individually distinct voices just before their meals that they intend using their trays, then they go over to the food and water and generally eat half of the contents of their bowls. They then swap bowls and finish them off. Then it is grooming time, followed by a bit of helter-skelter playtime, then time for a nap. Brother ! When they play, they play hard. They yell at me when it is too hot, to get me to turn the aircon on. When it cools down to their satisfaction, they go to sleep. There are no longer any problems of acceptance. They have taken to the grand kids, and demand attention from both Jan and myself. When we are engaged in work at home - Jan with her paperwork and laptop, and me with my computer - they make it known that they are not thrilled with the idea that they are not the centre of attention. As you can see by one of the photo's, they find ways to put themselves back into the centre of attention. The cat tree has been an absolute godsend [ for our furniture ]. It is taller than I am, and I can't see into the top perch as it is too high. They, however, think it is marvellous. Each has taken one of the two high perches. When they are not in a playful mood, they quite often both get into the one perch and chill out for a while. Warmest Regards, Russ & Jan, Darwin, 28/3/08
Hi Sue, Just thought I would drop a line to advise you of the current situation with "the boys". They have settled in just fine, and have started to develop their individual personalities. The Choc Pt [CP] is always the first to greet you in any situation - first thing in the morning, arriving home after being out, or welcoming visitors. The Seal Pt [SP] is more aloof, and will take his time introducing himself each time. It took 3-4 days before Seal Point [S P] would come to me. He is now exploring the idea of coming up to me and sitting on my lap whilst I pat him. When I am on the floor, he now regularly comes up to me, snuggles in and wants me to scratch him. All good ! You can imagine my distress [laugh] when my son came over for the first time, and SP took to him in 10-15 minutes, purring to his heart's content whilst snuggling in to him. Fickle ! They are booked in for their 2nd vaccination next Wednesday. Oh Joy ! There have been no "accidents" in the house, with them using their trays 100% of the time. Warmest regards, Russ & Jan, Darwin 5/4/08
