Generally the main reason we have for breeding a litter is to acquire a pup for ourselves, whether as future breeding stock or for the show ring. Needless to say we cannot keep the whole litter, the pups we are unable to keep will go to caring, loving homes as pets or in some cases show homes. All of our puppies are placed on a very strict worming routine from birth, being wormed every two weeks from birth until 8weeks, there after every three months as are my adults jacks. They are also vaccinated and microchipped at 6weeks. I also follow the methods used
by the well known working dog handler, Scott Lithgow(now deceased)in the rearing of my puppies. Scott Lithgow's methods involved the exposure of the pup to various stimuli as the pup grows. The general idea is through this gentle handling you will increase the number of neurons in the pups brain, during the most receptive stage in its life. Starting from the basic handling from birth, though to more varied experiences. I am left with very confident extremely trusting puppies with a great love for people and an inquisitive mind. |
