Cardiovascular Disease is the number one
killer in Australia, with one Australian dying from it every ten minutes.
What is cardiovascular disease?
It is the accumulation of fat in the arteries. This fat can cause blood
clots and if large enough can completely block a blood vessel. When a
clot blocks a blood vessel that is feeding the heart, part of the heart
will die. This is known as heart attack. If a clot blocks a blood vessel
connected to the brain, part of the brain will die, and this is called
a stroke.
What are the most common factors that cause cardiovascular disease?
High cholesterol (bad)
High blood pressure
stress
Lack of exercise
High diet in processed foods, sugar and bad fats
Obesity
How to reduce my risk of cardiovascular disease?
Make an appointment to identify
your risk of cardiovascular disease which will allow me to
decide on the most appropriate lifestyle changes and supplements for
you to keep a health heart
and blood vessels. In addition, you will receive a free copy of "Tips
For a Healthy Heart" booklet.
Follow a few self-help tips for a health heart:
- Improve blood circulation through
exercise and hot and cold
foot baths.
- Increase
the intake of vegetables, fresh fruits and grains.
- Eat
brown rice, millet and yellow oatmeal instead of wheat.
- Increase
the intake of freshly vegetable juices and freshly fruit juices.
- Reduce
salt and coffee.
- Avoid
high fat dairy products.
- Reduce
the intake of alcohol
- Eliminate
all processed and packaged foods.
- Do
not smoke as it constricts the capillaries and will narrow the
space through where the blood flows
- Avoid
being overweight.
Excess of fat puts strain in the heart.
- Regular physical exercise
- Avoid
emotional stress – tension in the body causes the arteries to narrow
increasing the risk of heart disease.
- Take
time during the day to slow down and unwind to prevent any tension
to build up.
- Learn
to say no if someone asks to do something you don’t want to do.
- Reduce
stress and take yoga or meditation class.
- Have Reflexology session
or a massage at least once a month.
- Listen
to soft, relaxing music before you go to sleep.
- Do
deep breathing exercises.
- Learn Reiki as Reiki
level One Teaches how to heal yourself, then you can apply
Reiki on yourself and on your heart on a daily basis. Your heart
will love it.
