Needle Lace is made on a drawing done on a prepared paper. This makes it possible to move round the picture as a painter does, correcting colour values and textures. Needle Lace is the only fabric where this is possible. With weaving, knitting, bobbin lace etc the maker starts at a beginning and goes onto the end.

This lace is best known in old portraits where sitters display their wealth in their collars and cuffs. Today, it would be said that it is not 'cost efficient'. It takes time to build up a picture with many little buttonhole stitches but I want to help give this fine old technique as chance in our times.
