Australia You're Standing In ItConstructed of Australian wildflowers in needle lace
My husband found an strange thing behind a country Op. Shop door. It must have been a shoe display contraption. I had put a book, How To Make Shoes in a Textile Library where I was librarian. These two things came together in a number of lace shoes. I was commissioned to make a shoe that was to be offered to the National Gallery of Victoria, ( they have some committee meetings to decide whether they want what is offered so that is not really backdoor.)
I decided to make it of Australian wild flowers and was pleased to think of the bottlebrush for the high heel. The lace has to be made flat (on a drawing) then it was mounted on clear acrylic shoe forms.
