Take any of the various and sundry forms of transportation available in order to arrive at Grütschalp, the small mid-station between Lauterbrunnen and Mürren. Cross the tracks and follow the clearly signposted trail to Mürren. Postcard views will greet you nearly every inch of the way. You will be in such a good mood from this astoundingly magical scenery, that you will make a spectacle of yourself by waving to Otto, as he drives the passing train.

When you reach Mürren, follow the lower road as far as the post office. Just beyond the post office, you'll see a road leading down the hill to your left. This winding road, drifted high with snow on either side, will lead you down to the farming village of Gimmelwald in about another half hour. If you are not already staying in Gimmelwald, take an extra twenty minutes to tour the village by following the roadway all the way around and down to the cablecar station (as opposed to taking the shortcut). Those staying in Mürren can take the cablecar back (or walk!); if you're returning to Interlaken, take the cablecar down and continue along the valley floor with the postal bus and train.
