Professional Managers and Associates (PMA) is a commercial business operating in Melbourne, Australia. It is managed by Tom Lefkovic. The company provides, inter alia, through Tom, a range of accounting, and secretarial services, to public and private enterprise and clients. Tom, is a Chartered Accountant, and has extensive experience in public floats and prospectus preparation along with the returns required under Australian corporation and security laws. Tom also works with colleagues in the property development market. The company provides a completely different set of services through Kevin R Beck and his colleagues.

Kevin R Beck lives in Australia, and services local and multinational global clients. He is a multiple, post graduate alumni member of the University of Melbourne (1997 - 2004). He is also a graduate of Bathurst Teachers College and Mitchell College of Advanced Education, now Charles Sturt University, in Bathurst, New South Wales Australia. He has also completed study units at Monash University Gippsland Campus in Victoria.

He provides extensive, highly complex multi-skilled services, through PMA, under agreed retainer consulting contracts, across a broad number of industry sectors in Australia and internationally.

With research you will find his activities, outcomes, both
disappointing and successful, over the years, reported in Australian media archives, in Australian parliamentary reports and other publications, in the University of Melbourne Library and the State Library of Victoria and other repositories and on the web.

To actually determine the extent of skill, and suitability, for your assignment you may wish to examine the Mosaic Portal web network designed amd maintained by Kevin. Created as a comunications tool.

Within the Mosaic Portal parameters, you will find among other things a demonstrable prescient ability, by Beck, to
analyse, predict events, outcomes and anticipate the future. A highly developed set of cognitive, and analytical, abilities. A complex, methodology that leaves others behind.

There are a number of highly paid executive, and advisers, within large enterprises, and government Ministry offices, political advisers and senior public servants within governments, here in Australia and internationally, that underestiamted the abilities of Beck and PMA. The cost of their miscalculations about our abilities to serve our clients is measured in the billions in halted and/or failed projects and initiatives.

On the other hand there are a balancing group of satisfied clients and employers whose enterprises have expanded, and public service cooperatively developed programmes that have been successfully implemented by Kevin Beck and/or PMA.

Kevin Beck develops complex multifaceted external competitive strategies as well as internal change, repositioning and performance improvment plans for clients. Kevin Beck then implements them from within the client organisations.

Elements of strategy, and planning, may be traditional in nature, such as marketing, communication and business development though they may not be the primary deliverable. The primary deliverable may be the neutralisation of competition or the marginalising of competitors and opposing interests using lateral, complex and detailed exercises. The client decides. There are also business development and change management examples within the Beck portfolio of experience.

In addition Kevin Beck implements campaigns and strategies beyond the client base into a number of public interest arenas interacting regularly with parliaments and public service enterprise across Australia. He is building a human network linked to a technological foundation which can be used as part of an overall strategy.

What Beck does within PMA for clients

  1. Thorough research of the marketplace and competitors or the individual project dimension

  2. Researching competitor networks of associates, funding sources, bankers and other key influences and foundations

  3. Developing targeted (on opposition entities) economic evaluations and presenting in decision maming forums, financing and investment environments. Extensive Australian and international experience. Objectives may be to gain funding for clienmt project. It may also be to diminish their success ratio or create barriers to competitors funding plans. Slowing down competitors to enable catch up or overtaking.

  4. Determining the extent of influence of the market leading enterprises with governments, business and wider society

  5. Extent of opposing interests' own networks, the capacity and influence of individual owners, Board members and executives, multiple positions and power bases

  6. Assessment of opposing/barrier interests weaknesses, exposures, possibilities to infiltrate

  7. Identifying internal and external decision makers and influences, players and interests hidden from view or over the horizon

  8. Strategy development and amendments

  9. Change management designs and implementation

  10. Tenders and large scale repositioning of business

  11. Deep business analysis with multiskilled associates

  12. Communications, marketing, surveys and focus group research with assocaites

How we do it

  • Get approval for plans and implement, communicate processes and progress to client

  • Different methodologies: may include leveraging and developing networks, arranging access

  • May include Competitive marketing and positioning as well as project and change management.

  • May include alliances and joint venture developments, new business opportunities
  • May include counter strategies and counter attacks

  • Among the methodologies we will use media, business and government processes, we will use networks, commercial and creative arguments and presentations, along with a complex mix of approaches.

In counter assignments, as a part of the approved implementation we may seek to create hurdles, and barriers, against opposing vested interests slwoing them or causing them to expend resources and time, diverting their attention and effort. We may seek to attach their interest to that of our client. This implementation programme can involve presenting scenarios to the enterprises that fund opposing interests' activities, either from within Australia or internationally. For example we may communicate with parliaments, bureaucracies, politicians, corporate interests, social and community interest groups, financiers, other interests, investors, potential investors, shareholders, regulatory authorities, international governments and other vested interests. We will usually seek the development of harmonious relationships, alliances and/or coexistence where we can rather than move to head on confrontation which is the last resort.

CUTTING EDGE ORGANISATIONAL THEORY IN PRACTICE
MOTIVATING - COMING OUT OF LEFT FIELD - BLINDSIDING - VERY HIGH SECTOR IMPACT

Where Beck has done things: Assignment Examples

Since the late nineteen seventies Kevin R Beck has created, and implemented, complex strategies working within enterprises (public and private corporations and government owned enterprises and agencies) with teams to manage and grow businesses, reorganise and reposition. Many of these activities have been reported in the media and in professional journals and have been the subject of discussion in some boardrooms here in Australia and internationally.

This work includes winning contracts and impacting outcomes totalling $AUD3,200,000,000 over the past twenty years, not including themultiplier effects into commerce and industry and the wider community. Beck has worked, with multidisplinary teams, to manage existing, or to create new, businesses, generating millions in revenues. You may have been impacted by, had exeperience of or be aware of some of these activities. What you may not be aware of is the extent and the drivers.

    11. Levelling the playing field:

What do you do when big business dminates your parch and you are pushed into the background?

Example: On behalf o aclient dwarfed by competing interests, PMA undertook a deep research programme and offered a compromise to the major competitor, to the key players (CSIRO and governments) but was rejected. Kevin Beck then devised, and implemented, national and international competition, and positioning strategy, including global representations in the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Canada and the United States, on behalf of our client. Meetings with corporations, magnesium interests, financiers and governmet agencies. Global distribution of multiplepapers on competing technologies. Economic analysis, critiques and assessments of the risks, and merits, of the Australian government metals and magnesium strategy. Beck wrote to state, and federal governments and the media highlighting the inherent risks in governments
      "picking winners."

Assessing who are the competitors, in any industry segment, including hidden ones, and what are their likely capabilities and abilities to impact?

Beck then undertook an assessment of the future of magnesium in Australia and globally as a business venture on behalf of the client. This assessment lead to a conclusion at odds with the experts, and with government agencies. PMA's client withdrew from magnesium, and light metals, investment in Australia and internationally, well before before the collapse of the Australian government strategy underpinned by CSIRO and the advice and assurances of large business interests. Most notably the support for the high profile major project in Queensland championed by the government - Australian Magnesium. The LMAA as it ws known was quietly passed to CSIRO, lodged within their flagship programme.
